|The Stroud Region Open Space & Recreation Commission
The Stroud Region Open Space & Recreation Commission is working to preserve the environment and beauty that is a trademark of this region, by implementing the plans the citizens of the Stroud Region have adopted:
- The Stroud Regional Open Space & Recreation Plan, and
- The Brodhead, McMichael, and Pocono Creeks Greenways Plan.
Many of the Borough’s Recreation programs are centered at Dansbury Community Park. The Stroud Region Open Space and Recreation Commission (SROSRC), formed by East Stroudsburg Borough, Stroudsburg Borough, and Stroud Township, operates a summer day camp (“Stroud Kids”) program for six weeks every year at Dansbury Park. SROSRC also operates a summer basketball program at the Dansbury Park courts, and a late-afternoon recreation program for attendees of the Day camp, utilizing the new Community Center Building. For information on the recreation programs operated directly by SROSRC, contact their office at 426-1512, or visit their website: www.srosrc.org through the link on this site.
The Borough’s longest-running and most popular recreation program is the Dansbury Park Swimming Pool, serving residents of the area since 1938. The Swimming Pool was extensively renovated in 2004-2005, and features heated water; zero-depth entry; water play apparatus; one large and two small slides, a 25 yard competitive swim area; shade structures; and a grassy area for sunbathing. Residents of East Stroudsburg Borough receive a discounted admission rate, whether by season pass or daily fee, as indicated below. Smithfield Township residents also receive the discount, based on an agreement between the two municipalities.
